Revitalising our landscape for people, communities and heritage

The landscape surrounding Bath gives a spectacular setting to the city and a wealth of wildlife and history. For centuries it has been used for its health and recreational benefits with its green fingers reaching right into the city centre providing wonderful walks and views.

Bathscape will reconnect people with this unique landscape.  Working through our partnership and involving different groups, we will deliver a range of activities and events to encourage greater public use, enjoyment and appreciation of the natural world around Bath and its historic setting.

The partnership seeks to ensure that this landscape is cared for in a way that fully reflects its value for people, communities and heritage by:

• improving access to and understanding of the landscape and natural environment
• improving its long term management
• revitalising its use for health, recreation and fun.

The Bathscape Partnership has been awarded a Heritage Lottery Fund Landscape Partnership scheme grant to develop and deliver a programme of activity which brings a co-ordinated approach to the care of the area defined as Bathscape.

Bathscape Landscape Partnership has a new Chair. Andrew Grant has taken on the role at an exciting stage in the development of the Bathscape delivery programme. Andrew is a resident of Bath and established the highly respected landscape architecture practice Grant Associates.  Bathscape Landscape Partnership - new people.pdf

Next steps

Currently Development Manager, Dan Merrett, and Community and Access Officer, Lucy Bartlett, are out and about discussing Bathscape projects with residents and potential delivery partners to draw up a detailed plan to submit to the Heritage Lottery Fund in June 2018.
There are opportunities for people to get involved in shaping the projects including attending events and responding to various consultations. We particularly want to overcome some of the barriers to accessing the countryside, as well as offering a range of projects and activities to enjoy and care for the landscape.

Members of the Bathscape team will be at Bath City Conference on 13th October.
