Air Quality Action Plan
The Keynsham Air Quality Action Plan was adopted in July 2016. It details the state of air quality in Keynsham; identifies the sources (by vehicle type) and identifies a number of measures that will help reduce air pollution.
The action plan was developed in collaboration with a number of teams within the council and the Keynsham public through a consultation in 2015. The council publish annual updates to the plan in June of each year, as part of the Annual Status Report (contains monitoring data and is sent to the Department for the Environment Food and Rural Affairs).
It is expected that a new plan will be developed in 2021 in order to account for the changing circumstances in relation to vehicle emissions and levels of pollution.
Air Quality Management Area
The Council has been monitoring air quality in Keynsham since 2002. Levels of nitrogen dioxide have been compared to the National Air Quality Objectives. These levels exceed the objectives along the High Street and Charlton Road.
An Air Quality Management Area (AQMA) was declared in July 2010. The area is shown in red on the map below.
