keynsham car park

Over 50 car park spaces will open to the public at Keynsham Civic Car Park from 28th October 2013 as another key milestone in Bath & North East Somerset Council’s regeneration of the town centre is reached.

The car park is being extended as part of supporting the regeneration of the town which includes new space for shops, restaurants as well as the Council’s own low carbon offices. All decks had been closed as part of the construction. Due to the excellent progress on-site made to date, the car park will partially re-open to the public with the Ground Floor being made available.

Councillor Paul Crossley (Lib-Dem, Southdown), Leader of Council, said, “This is excellent news for the public and Temple Street traders. From Monday, there will be more spaces available to the public in the Civic Centre car park. Bath & North East Somerset Council is making excellent progress on this project. We are on-time, on-budget and this latest development represents the next stage towards completion in Autumn 2014.”

As previously, the Lower Level will be for Council staff Monday to Friday, such as Social Workers and Highways Inspectors, who must respond quickly to urgent matters. This allocation will take pressure away from car parks, such Bath Hill East and Ashton Way, meaning people will be more likely to find a space. On Saturdays and Sundays, this level will also be available to the public.

The car park will fully open in Autumn 2014 when the regeneration is completed. Steps have already been taken to improve the parking situation in the town, for example free parking in The Labbott North and additional 30 minute free spaces in Ashton Way.

People can discover the latest news about the project which includes new shops, new community space, and new library with one stop shop for public services on the Council website at www.bathnes.gov.uk/keynshamregen
