Bath & North East Somerset Council - Your World Heritage - getting involved

Your World Heritage - getting involved

The historic environment has an impact on everybody. It provides the backdrop to our daily lives, especially in a district like Bath & North East Somerset where we have such a rich and diverse historic and natural environment. It forms a large part of our community identity and is a unique and irreplaceable resource.

The World Heritage Site Management Plan provides the opportunity to help local people explore their World Heritage Site. It can be used for education in the classroom, for community projects to find out more about where you live, or to improve how a place looks and functions.

Ideas for how to get involved

Here is an example of how the World Heritage Site status is being used by local people:

The Council is working in partnership with the Bath Preservation Trust to develop a free World Heritage Education Resource Pack for local schools.  This is currently being developed and and trialled and will be launched in 2009.  The Bath Preservation Trust is also working with local secondary schools to develop citizenship resources in relation to world heritage.  To find out more about either of these projects, please contact Tom Boden, Education and Audience Development Officer of the Bath Preservation Trust, by email at tomboden@bptrust.org.uk or by telephone on 01225 338727.
