Bath & North East Somerset Council - Who's Who in Bath World Heritage

Who's Who in Bath World Heritage

City of Bath World Heritage Site

UK World Heritage Sites vary considerably in their make up.  In Bath, World Heritage is principally cordinated by Bath & North East Somerset Council.  A dedicated manager, employed by the Council, has responsibilities for producing and implementing a management plan for the site. This officer also liaises with other World Heritage Sites to exchange information, learn from the practice of others, and represent the city at World Heritage meetings.

World Heritage Steering Group

The World Heritage Steering Group oversees the production and implementation of the Management Plan. It usually meets twice a year to assess progress and decide on priorities for action.  Priorities are based on the actions within the Management Plan and on current events in the World Heritage Site. The Group is chaired by an independent chairman, Mr David Beeton. The following organisations give their time and expertise to sit on the Group:

  • English Heritage
  • Bath & North East Somerset Council
  • Department for Culture, Media and Sport
  • ICOMOS UK
  • The National Trust
  • Bath Federation of Residents Association
  • Bath Chamber of Commerce
  • Bath Preservation Trust
  • Bath Society
  • University of Bath
  • Bath Tourism Plus
  • Bath Charter Trustees
  • Avon Local Councils Association

You can contact the Steering Group via the Council's World Heritage Manager.
