Asbestos - new council procedures

Image of asbestos logo

Due to the hazardous nature of asbestos, we have changed the procedure for disposing of it at the Council’s Recycling Centres.  From now on you will need to contact Council Connect 24 hours in advance to let us know the time and the date that you’d like take this type of waste to the site.

Please note:

  • You may only take sheets of cement bonded asbestos to the Recycling Centres.
  • Wherever possible the sheets should not be broken or damaged and should be double wrapped.
  • We will accept a maximum of 3 unbroken sheets. If it has not been possible to keep the sheets intact this translates in to three bags worth.

If you cannot meet the above guidelines, you will need to contact a specialist contractor to remove the asbestos.

For further information, please contact Council Connect or go to the Hazardous Materials section on our website.
