Ever needed to recycle your drink can when you are out and about in Bath?
We hope you are recycling all you can at home and work but what about when you are out and about? Well, we have good news - you can make use of our new public on street recycling bins at various locations in Bath .
In August 2010 we began successfully separating recyclable material from litter in several street locations in and around Bath. Local Ward Councillors in Bathwick funded the first three sets of bins which collect paper, cans and plastic bottles separately from general litter. Since then another five sets of recycling bins have been installed in and around the city centre, with positive results from keen recyclers.
There are two types of recycling bin in the city which have been designed to suit the type of site.
The materials are collected by our Neighbourhoods Teams and brought to our Midland Road Depot for monitoring and contamination checks by Waste Services in a joint venture. All bins collect paper, cans and plastic bottles as well as litter, and are installed in busy pedestrian areas or sites where residents gather.
