The West of England Partnership provides strategic land-use and transport policies for the former Avon area covered by the four councils of Bath and North East Somerset Council, Bristol City Council, North Somerset Council and South Gloucestershire Council.
Saved policies from the The Joint Replacement Structure Plan are also part of the Development Plan for Bath & North East Somerset. Direction has been received from the Secretary of State to extend these policies for three years beyond 27 September 2007.
A Joint Waste DPD is currently being prepared by the former Avon authorities (Bath & North East Somerset, Bristol City, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset). This will set out the policies for waste management and ensure that there are sufficient opportunities for the provision of waste management facilities in appropriate locations.
