This informal park was originally part of the Somerset and Dorset Railway Line which ran from Bath Green Park Station, now the site of Sainsbury’s, to Bournemouth, which closed in 1966. After considerable construction work and the closure of the tunnel entrance, the area was laid out as a ribbon of countryside through the city and was planted with many indigenous plants.
