So called in honour of Queen Alexandra, this 4.5 hectare (11 acre) park was opened in 1902 to commemorate the Coronation of Edward VII. It is situated at the top of Beechen Cliff giving magnificent panoramic views of the city and the surrounding wooded vales and hills.
Its lawns and fine trees create a restful atmosphere, and there is a children’s play area and public toilets. From the park one can walk back down to the city centre through the beautiful and wooded Beechen Cliff – although the steps may prove too much of a challenge for some.
