Welcome to Development & Major Projects
The Development & Major Projects Directorate was formed in January 2005 in response to a series of needs enabling the Council to deliver its regeneration agenda, and to provide underpinning and robust project management systems to ensure project delivery. The Development and Regeneration team is responsible for the overall promotion, co-ordination and direction of physical regeneration, development and economic development activity.
The Directorate has successfully expanded its role and, whilst servicing a number of high profile capital projects valued at approx £500 million, has also established a more outward looking relationship with Government, business and developers and developed a clear Vision for the district supported by an evidence base to underpin corporate economic policy.
Meet the team
The Development & Regeneration Division is working to rebalance the local economy through the provision of more workspace for key high value growth sectors, support existing and emerging businesses, diversify the skills base of the workforce to ensure more people have the opportunity for better jobs and ensuring infrastructure (transport, ICT, culture and housing) is provided to support this growth.
Taking on board the findings of an evidence base, other Council strategies and consultations including the Sustainable Community Strategy, Core Strategy and Economic Strategy, the Council have prepared Economic Regeneration Delivery Plans for Bath, Keynsham and Midsomer Norton that identify potential development sites across the district, set out appropriate uses, design principles and infrastructure requirements.
