Children's Trust - Integrated Services for Children and Young People

Children's Trust Boards (CTB) are partnerships between local organisations who have a  role in improving outcomes for children and young people.

The B&NES Children’s Trust Board was established in January 2008. The CTB agreed that it would continue as a non-statutory CTB in September 2010 at which time it also reviewed its governance and membership. The Trust currently includes representatives of the local authority, independent chair of LSCB, primary , secondary and college representation, health, police, the voluntary sector and the transitions board. It also includes the chairs of the delivery and strategy groups who lead on the delivery of  the Children and Young People's Plan(CYPP)  2011-2014 and for making sure that services deliver the on the commitments outlined in the plan.

The CYPP sets out the vision that the Children Trust  Board has developed in consultation with children and young people, parents and carers and professionals:-

We want all children and young people to enjoy childhood and to be well prepared for adult life.

Since 2006 CYPP’s have given the overview of how services will be delivered to support Children and Young People.  Each plan is reviewed and evaluated so that we can look at what progress that has been made  identify gaps in provision,  assess how well we are meeting the needs of our children and young people, and help us to work towards our next CYPP.  It describes how, in the context of economic challenge and significant service change, we will work to improve outcomes for children and young people in line with our vision and local priorities.

The Children's Trust Board currently links into the Bath & North East Somerset Local Strategic Partnership by taking the role of the Theme Delivery Partnership for the Children and Young People's theme. The Local Strategic Partnership has published a document called the Sustainable Community Strategy, which contains a high level chapter on the aims of the Children and Young People's theme.

It is expected that the CTB will  further clarify its role in relation to  the emerging Health & Well Being Board due to commence its function  in April 2013

“We are your Children Trust. This plan is only of real value if it guides the work we do together to improve outcomes for children and young people. It needs to remain a living plan and so we welcome your views and contributions and look forward to working with you closely to deliver our vision for all children and young people in Bath and North East Somerset”.
