Bath & North East Somerset Council - School Term and Holiday Dates Consultation 2013/14

School Term and Holiday Dates Consultation 2013/14

SCHOOL TERM AND HOLIDAY DATES CONSULTATION 2013-14.

Term dates for Community and Voluntary Controlled Schools are set by the Council in consultation with neighbouring Authorities, schools and parents.

In recent years Bath and North East Somerset Council has adopted the broader principles of the standard school year, formerly known as the 6-term year. This decision was taken following extensive consultation. Recently agreed dates have been broadly based on the model being promoted by the Local Government Association (LGA) but adapted to create a 195 day calendar and wherever possible breaks of complete weeks rather than part weeks.

As in previous years discussions have taken place with our neighbouring authorities to try and ensure we fix the same dates. The attached dates are being proposed by Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset Councils.

Draft Dates 2013/14

If you would like to comment on these proposed dates you can either E Mail to the following address:- Admissions_Transport@bathnes.gov.uk  or write to the Admissions & Transport Unit, Bath and North East Somerset Council, Children's Services Department,  Riverside, Temple Street, Keynsham BS31 1DN. Any comments should be received by Friday 24th February 2012 at the latest.

The dates will then be agreed by the Cabinet Member for Early Years Children and Youth taking in to account the results of the consultation exercise.
