Why is the Council running the scheme?
The aim of the scheme is:
- To recognise outstanding achievements (and contributions to service improvements) made by employees.
- To provide an excellent example to colleagues and staff of how to deliver services effectively.
- To reward those who exceed customer expectations for quality and speed of service.
- To give recognition by a member of the public who appreciates what is being done for them.
- To reward any exceptional act that is deemed deserving of recognition – e.g. giving service to a community or charity outside of their normal employment.
- To promote awareness of how good and improving performance takes place at all levels in the organisation.
- Anyone who nominates a team or employee will be notified of the outcome of their nomination.
Who can be nominated?
All Bath & North East Somerset Council staff, including schools' employees. As the Council is working increasingly closely with the local NHS, this scheme is now open to all NHS Bath & North East Somerset staff.
What is meant by excellent public services?
To a large extent this is for you, the nominating person or group, to decide. For example it may be:
- Noticeable improvements in the way services are delivered.
- Something that has had a positive impact on yours or other people’s lives.
- It is important to tell us why you are nominating somebody. This will help the judges come to a decision.
Who can make nominations?
Anybody that comes into contact with any individual or team that works for Bath & North East Somerset Council including elected councillors.
What if I don’t know the name of the individual or their department?
Don’t worry. Give us as much information as you can, such as a brief description, the type of work they do, where they work etc. and we will do the rest.
