A lot has been moving forward with the riverside area this week and I was really pleased to see the launch of the Water Space Study. The study will work with our partner organisations to look at how we can make the most of the river and canal around Bath, as well as reduce flooding, and I look forward to seeing what opportunities we uncover over the next year.

On Monday I was in Bristol for the announcement of a £7.5 million grant for the West of England from the Office for Low Emission Vehicles. Andrew Jones, Under Secretary of State for Transport was there to meet with representatives from Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset councils. Exciting news this week as the next phase of the Bath Quays Waterside project begins. The existing one-way system around Avon Street car park is being changed into a two-way system which, when completed, will allow the development of a £6.22m project involving the Council and the Environment Agency. I’m delighted with news that the Council has achieved the prestigious national Customer Service Excellence (CSE) Standard. We have achieved this standard across all of our services – one of only a handful of councils in the country to do so. Customers can access our services via our three shared One Stop Shops, in Bath, Keynsham and Midsomer Norton and online and on the phone.
