Good news for the Somer Valley

Some good news for our area in last week’s Spending Review from the Chancellor. Firstly we heard that The Somer Valley is to get Enterprise Zone status. Welcoming Christmas to Bath

I thoroughly enjoyed the Holburne Lantern Procession last Thursday evening in Bath. Over 1,000 people, mostly children, took part and there were over 7,500 people lining the streets. The Christmas tree outside the Abbey was lit by the children and the Christmas lights came on too. Drawing bridge design winners and building for the future

Last Wednesday I met with the Government’s Treasury department in London to discuss devolution and our ambitions for the area. Working with our neighbouring councils, we have put together proposals that could generate an extra £2bn per annum for the regional economy. I’ll be meeting with another Government Minister on Thursday to discuss these plans further.
