Bath & North East Somerset Council is committed to promoting equality. On this page you will find information that we have referred to when setting our priorities for residents, staff and visitors to the area.
With reference to our Single Equality Scheme, we have set our Equality Objectives for 2012 - 2013 and we will report regularly against these to our Corporate Equality Group. The outcomes we want to achieve include:
- Making sure that Council services (and information about them) are provided in a way that meets people's needs
- Engaging with our communities so that people can influence decisions that affect their lives - and no community is considered ‘hard to reach’
- Being a strong, safe and inclusive community where people from all backgrounds come together, get on well and diversity is celebrated
- Engendering trust so that people have confidence in the Council to tackle discrimination, report prejudice incidents, and are happy with how we deal with it
- Being an employer of choice for all our community; promoting fair pay and equal access to employment, training and career development opportunities
