A certificate relating to a Birth Death or Marriage that occurred in Bath and North East Somerset since July 1837 may be obtained from this office. All of the deaths that occured before December 2007 are now on the BathBMD web site. We would aim to process your application within five days of receiving it. Please give us a daytime telephone number, and a stamped self-addressed envelope, (please note that certificates are A4 size). The fee is £10 and cheques should be made payable to "Superintendent Registrar".*
*IMPORTANT INFORMATION: due to essential works our certificate production service will be suspended from the 22nd June 2012 until the 9th July 2012. Applications made during this time will be held until the service resumes on the 9th July.

Death certificates cost £7.00/£12.00*. To obtain one you would need to supply the following information:
- Full name and surname of the deceased
- Date and place of death.
*Once a register is complete it is deposited into the custody of the Superintendent Registrar the certificate cost rises from £7.00 to £10 and the application will be subject to a £2 administration fee making the total payable £12.
If you wish to avoid paying the administration fee of £2 you can come and apply in person. You will be asked to fill out a form and will need to supply a stamped addressed envelope if you wish us to post the certificate on to you.
Are you doing family research? If so you may be interested in purchasing a family tree scroll from the Register Office at the Guildhall, Bath. The scrolls cost just £6 and you can record your family tree all the way back to your great great grandparents. The scrolls are also available in a children’s version and are a great way to span the generations and get children interested in the history of their own families.
