On 13 November 2009, the Home Secretary acknowledged the good work in some areas and announced that by March 2010 he expects to see all local areas delivering a minimum set of standards for tackling anti-social behaviour (ASB), including:
- Reducing perceptions of ASB year on year
- Regular updates for every community on what is being done to tackle antisocial behaviour – including an expectation to publicise ASBOs to the local community
- Provide residents with a right of complaint to CDRPS/Community Safety Partnerships if effective action is not taken by local agencies through existing channels
- Support and help for victims of ASB
- Taking reports of ASB seriously by recording and investigating all cases and committing to keeping victims informed of action taken
Victims of Anti-social Behaviour
Victims are at the heart of the work that the council, and other agencies, do in respect to stopping or reducing anti-social behaviour. Please see this link to Minimum Standards of Service that the Community Safety Partnership has agreed upon.
We have adopted a form of Risk Assessment to assist in identifying, and then giving the appropriate level of support, to all repeat and vulnerable victims. This Risk Assessment is used by the Council ASB Team, the Police, and Somer Housing.
The Council lead on the partnership ASB Panel meetings that are held every six weeks, where high risk victims are a standing agenda item.
