IDPARTNERS
Easlier this year a number of persons within the Council, Police and Somer Housing were trained in using the IDPARTNERS problem Solving Process (PSP). This was two day course, and equiped those people attening to use PSP.
This PSP has been used successfully within the Safer Bristol Partnership, and many other places around the country. B&NES Council Community Safety Team started to introduce this PSP to partners in B&NES at the beginning of 2011, and since then many areas within the Avon & Somerset Police area have decided that this will be the PSP that they will use.
Since the introduction in B&NES we have used this to address some anti-social behaviour problems with some positive results.
Using the IDPARTNERS PSP involves harnessing the participation of many stakeholders, and most importantly those from within the community where the problem exists. They own the problem, and have a vested interest in coming up with solutions - "The Big Society". Historically previous problem solving groups have been made up primarily of statutory agencies, working on behalf of communities facing problems. There is an opportunity with the introduction of IDPARTNERS to change this. The future being, a trained facilitator, taking a community group through looking at a problem and identifying solutions using this process.
