Bath & North East Somerset Council - Tell Us Once - Births

Tell Us Once - Births

We are now providing a service called Tell Us Once.

If you choose to take up this service it means that you won’t have to send a copy of the birth certificate in the post as we will contact the child benefit agency and other government and Local Authority departments on your behalf.

If you would like to take advantage of this service you must bring in the completed child benefit form with the pre-paid envelope (this was enclosed in your bounty pack).

We have a supply of child benefit forms on our reception desk. If you arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment time you can ask the receptionist for one and complete it ahead of your appointment. The form must be complete before you are taken through; if it is not the Registrar will not be able to send it for you.

In some instances we can fast track Child Tax Credit or Working Tax Credit applications with HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) if you are receiving benefits that relate to your income.

In addition, the following organisations can be contacted if you ask us to:

  • Department for Work and Pensions
  • Jobcentre Plus
  • Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit Office
  • Library Service
  • Family Information services
  • HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) – Child Benefit & Child Tax Credit or Working Tax Credit
