The Bath & North East Somerset LAA 1 (2007-2010) was a written agreement that set out how public, voluntary and private sector bodies within an area work together to improve the quality of life for residents over a three year period. The Agreement comprised of 32 indicators, known as 'designated targets'.
The foundation for the B&NES LAA was an assessment of what the Council and its partners are doing well and what needs to be done better. This was achieved through furthering and the delivering some of the actions from the Local Strategic Partnership’s Sustainable Community Strategy. It highlighted the challenges that the area was facing and the Council and its partners' priorities in addressing them. Each successfully achieved indicator had a reward associated to it and by working in partnership to achieve these shared aims and objectives a claim was submitted to Government (January 2011) for £1.3m.
What happens next?
As the 'accountable body' for this reward, the Council along with the Local Strategic Partnership is developing two funds for the money to be best used to further the Partnership's ambitions.
Firstly, a Small Grants Fund has been set up for projects that support the delivery of the Sustainable Community Strategy by building capacity in the community through small projects that will enable community groups to gain the confidence and skills to identify and help meet their needs as well as participating more fully in society including becoming integral to local decision making.
The second way the funding will be spent is by the setting up of a Main Fund for large projects of around £100,000 in value. Further information on how the Main Fund will be invested will be published soon.
More information on these funds is available on the Performance Reward Programme page.
