The Public Protection Service plays a vital role in economic prosperity and community wellbeing by the provision of advice, education and enforcement of appropriate legislation.

In order achieve this the work we do includes:                                                       

 

 

 

Through the regular monitoring, testing and enforcement of standards relating to air and water, contribute towards the reduction of any potential health risks.

We ensure that livestock movements are recorded to help prevent the spread of disease among farm animals, we also ensure that animals are treated humanely (including during transport and sale).

Contribute to the economy and health of the population by ensuring that food safety and hygiene standards are met by the use of education, advice and enforcement

 

Lead for the Council on health improvement initiatives relating to healthy eating, unintentional injury, smoke free England

Supporting business and promoting good health and safety standards in over 4000 local businesses.

 

Through the process of licensing and enforcement of conditions attached to the licence ensure public safety and the achievement of the government’s objectives.

 

We are responsible for the enforcement of a wide range of consumer legislation covering everything from misleading advertisements to the counterfeiting of trade marks, from weights and measures to the charging of interest on credit agreements.

 

 

The Public Protection base budget figure is approximately £1,200,000.00
