Diamond Travelcard: Free off-peak bus travel for older people and those with disabilities who live in Bath & North East Somerset
Latest News
From Thursday 17 May until Friday 25th May the Council's databases and software for issuing Diamond Travelcards will be undergoing upgrades and replacement. We regret that it will not be possible to issue new or replacement Diamond Travelcards during this period; normal service will be resumed from Monday 28th May 2012.
From December 2011 new ticket machines that can read smartcards are being introduced on most bus services across Bath & North East Somerset. Passengers will be advised by the bus driver when the ticket machines are ready to use and all bus passengers boarding with a Diamond Travelcard (or any other valid concessionary pass) will be required to place their pass on the smartcard reader EVERY time they get on the bus. Please note:
- You may need to state your destination and you may still be given a zero-value ticket (depending on the practice of the bus operator).
- If your pass does not work on the new smartcard readers but it appears to be valid, you will still be allowed to travel free of charge. At the earliest opportunity, you must apply to your local Council office for a replacement pass. There will be no charge to replace a faulty pass.
Please note that national age eligibility rules for bus passes have changed. If you already have a travelcard, you don't need to do anything. If you are about to apply for a travelcard and you were born before 6th April 1950, you became eligible on your 60th birthday. If you were born on or after that date, you will need to check. Please read the FAQs under ‘Related Documents’ on the top right hand side of this page, use the Directgov age calculator or phone Council Connect on 01225 39 40 41.
