About the Toolkit
The children and young people’s workforce is large and diverse. All organisations and individual’s who work with children and young people, or are involved in providing services to them, have a duty to safeguard and promote their welfare. The adoption of safe recruitment practices and procedures is vital in identifying, deterring and rejecting people unsuitable for working with children.
The below toolkit has been developed using recommendations and improvements from national guidance and legislation. It is designed to support voluntary and community organisations in their responsibilities in the safer recruitment of staff/volunteers who will work with children and young people. The guidance is intended to compliment individual agency recruitment practices.
