What is my collection day?
To find out your collection day, please contact Council Connect on 01225 39 40 41; email councilconnect@bathnes.gov.uk or go to www.bathnes.gov.uk/myarea.
When should I put my refuse out?
You should leave your refuse out from 7am on the day of collection. If you have to place your rubbish on the pavement for collection it should not be placed out before 8pm the evening before. You may be liable to a £75 fine if your refuse is put out too early.
Although the time of our collection is broadly the same each week, we cannot guarantee this. It is important to make sure your refuse is put out by 7am on the correct collection day.
Where should I leave my refuse?
For the majority of properties, you should leave your refuse at the front edge of your property for collection. Edge of property means that rubbish should be placed in a location that is visible to the collectors, at the edge of your property and does not require the collectors to enter more than a few paces on to your property. If you have to place your rubbish on the pavement for collection, care must be taken to ensure that is does not block access or cause an obstruction. You must not put your waste on the highway before 8pm on the day before your collection.
If you require any further advice, please contact Council Connect on 01225 39 40 41 or email councilconnect@bathnes.gov.uk.
Where should I put my rubbish out if I share a drive?
You will be required to make your rubbish available for collection at a point nearest the highway. Advice on this can be obtained by contacting Council Connect on 01225 39 40 41.
I live in a flat. Where should I put my rubbish?
If you live in flats currently serviced by a large container (bulk bin), please use these facilities. For residents in flats without this provision, rubbish should be placed at the front edge of your property. Rubbish will only be collected from street level and we will not go down steps into cellars or basements.
What if I feel that rubbish is causing an obstruction on the footpaths in my area?
Residents must keep their rubbish within the boundary of their property. If rubbish has to be placed on the pavement for collection it should not be placed out on the pavement until after 8pm the day before the collection day and every care should be taken to make sure that they do not cause an obstruction.
The Council have powers to issue fixed penalty notices of £75 (current rate) where rubbish is placed out in advance of collection day. To report a problem in your area please contact Council Connect on 01225 39 40 41.
I am concerned about the visual impact leaving rubbish at the edge of my property may have. What can I do about this?
Rubbish should only be placed out on the pavement from 8pm the evening before the scheduled collection day. If animal scavenging is a possible problem in your area you are advised to store your rubbish in a dustbin (lid on) and place it at the edge of your property for collection.
If you have specific concerns about cleanliness then please contact Council Connect on 01225 39 40 41 or email
councilconnect@bathnes.gov.uk who will be able to address these issues promptly.
What if I need help with my collections? If you are not capable of moving your refuse to the edge of your property and there is no-one else living with you who can help, we can arrange an assisted collection.
You will need to complete and return an
assisted collection application form.
What containers can I use for my refuse? You can present your refuse in any suitable container. This is usually black sacks or a conventional dustbin. Please do not use wheeled bins as our vehicles may not have the appropriate lifting gear to empty them. Please note, the Council does not supply containers.
What happens if my collection is missed?
Please make sure you have put your refuse out at the right time and location and check whether the rest of your road has been collected.
Although the time of collection is broadly the same each week, we cannot guarantee this. It is important to make sure your refuse is put out by 7am on the correct collection day.
If you need to report a missed collection, you must let us know by the end of the following working day in order for us to go back and collect it.
Any missed collections reported after this time will not be collected until your next scheduled collection.
If you need to report a missed collection or have any other problems or questions regarding your refuse service, please contact Council Connect on 01225 39 40 41 or email
