Applying for a place as a casual admission to an existing year group.
As of September 2010, as part of new Government legislation regarding co-ordinated admission arrangements, schools are no longer able to offer places to children direct. An offer of a school place can only be made to a child by the Local Authority in which you live.
Any application for a school place must therefore now be made to your home Local Authority even if you are wanting a place for your child at a school situated in a different Local Authority area.
If you live in Bath & North East Somerset or if you have a confirmed move to the area and want your child to change schools then you will need to complete a Casual Admissions application form and also arrange for the additional information form to be completed by your child’s current or last school. Requests for school places are normally only considered approximately 4 weeks prior to a requested start date. However for places being sought for a September admission to an existing year group in a school, applications can be made in mid June.
