In September 2003 the Council began a series of Area Reviews of primary school provision. These reviews are aimed at:
- maintaining and improving educational standards;
- ensuring that resources (land, buildings, funding and people) are used in the most effective way;
- delivering improved access to high quality facilities to children, school staff and the wider community;
- making the choice of a local school a natural and easy choice for parents.
We have broken the Council area down into thirteen geographical areas. The primary schools in each of these areas will be reviewed and conclusions reached about the best way forward in each area. We will then be in a position to make, when necessary, proposals for change at one or more specific schools to be discussed.
Please see the Primary Area Review Sequence for a timetable of reviews.
A document entitled “The School Review Process” can be found on the Council website. Paper copies are available on request.
