Introduction to the Local Strategic Partnership
The Bath and North East Somerset Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) was formed in June 2002. It is made up of public services as well as voluntary, community, and business sector representatives.
The prime function of the LSP is to produce a Sustainable Community Strategy (SCS).The SCS is a plan for working together to improve the quality of life in local communities. The strategy was launched in 2009 and is currently being reviewed and updated. This review is also looking at the structure of partnership working and making sure that the LSP is fit for purpose to address the new challenges of how best to work together. The updated SCS and the findings of the LSP review are due later in 2011.
The LSP has also been responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of the Local Area Agreement, which has successfully delivered some of the aims and aspirations within the SCS. The LAA has now concluded with over £1.3m of reward money being claimed by the LSP. This reward money will be used to continue to fulfil the LSP’s shared objectives. This reward is being managed through a Performance Reward Programme that is being overseen by the LSP.
