The Bath Transportation Package
The Bath Transportation Package (BTP) is a £54 million
scheme which includes a range of measures to tackle congestion in
Bath by improving public transport and pedestrian
access for residents and visitors of Bath and the surrounding
area.
The BTP formed the basis of a Major Scheme Business Case (MSBC)
bid to the Department for Transport in 2006. ‘Programme Entry’ for
the BTP was confirmed in October 2007, which meant Government
funding for the scheme was provisionally secured through its Major
Transport Scheme funding process.
The BTP includes the following elements:
- Expansion of Park & Ride (P&R) facilities at Odd Down,
Lansdown and Newbridge;
- Creation of the A4 Eastern Bath P&R;
- A Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system linking Newbridge P&R to
the City Centre and ultimately to the A4 Eastern Bath P&R;
- 9 Showcase bus routes;
- Active traffic management with real-time signs for drivers;
and
- Improved City Centre signage and pedestrian
enhancements
The BTP is comprised of four Planning Applications:
