Carriageway Resurfacing - Various Locations throughout the Authority.

Between August and November 2008 Bath & North East Somerset Council awarded three Carriageway Resurfacing Contracts - The North Contract, The Bath City Contract and The South Contract.

The North contract sites as shown below have now been completed. The Bath City Contract sites: Argyle Street/Grove Street, Guinea Lane, St. Mark's Road and Catherine Way have been completed. However, for information regarding Eastfield Avenue please see paragraph below. The South Contract sites: School Lane, Chew Stoke; Bonhill Road/Bonhill Lane, Bishop Sutton;  Fox Hill, Combe Down; B3115 Tunley Road, Tunley and Bristol Road, Paulton have been completed. However the Engineers responsible for the carriageway resurfacing on the South Contract sites are aware of some surface material failure. Consequently the contractors will be responsible for carrying out all of the remedial works at their expense.

Additional carriageway resurfacing sites will be added to this list at a later date.

There were unexpected drainage problems at Catherine Way, Batheaston which in turn deferred the surfacing works at Eastfield Avenue, Weston.  We apologise for the inconvenience these events caused both to local residents at Catherine Way and bus passengers in that area who were affected by the necessary change to bus routes and schedules.

As a result of the delayed resurfacing at Catherine Way, notification was received at short notice from the nominated subcontractor of the shut-down to their surfacing operations for the winter due to the recently experienced adverse weather conditions.

The specialist surfacing process selected for Eastfield Avenue, being a seasonal operation, will not be able to commence until around next March. The carriageway preparatory works however have been completed along Eastfield Avenue in readiness for the forthcoming resurfacing works. We apologise for any inconvenience that the road works carried out to date at this location may have caused and we will ensure that a further advisory letter is provided in advance and nearer to the time of the carriageway resurfacing works at Eastfield Avenue.

At each location, prior to the commencement of works, driver information boards will be displayed advising the precise works dates and times. It should be noted that any dates and times advertised may be subject to change due to adverse weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances.
