Bath City Centre Resurfacing

Summary: Bath & North East Somerset Council will be carrying out essential road resurfacing works during October and November 2006. Works will take place at Midland Bridge Road, Chapel Row in Bath city centre, as well as at Camden Road, Gays Hill and Margaret’s Hill. It is important for the work to be undertaken, as the road surfaces are in poor condition.

Start: Monday 16th October

Duration: Approximately 3 weeks

Reason: To ensure the carriageway remains safe and serviceable

Benefits: Improved road condition giving a reduction in noise, a better ride for vehicles and an improved appearance

Works Schedule

  • Midland Bridge Road - Monday 16th October for 5 nights
  • Royal Crescent - SUSPENDED
Further surveys have indicated that the extent of the maintenance works required to the setts is greater than initially envisaged. The Council is therefore reviewing the works to be carried out at the Royal Crescent with a view to requesting listed building consent prior to carrying out these works at later date.
  • Abbey Green - SUSPENED until the start of 2007
  • Camden Road - Monday 23rd to Friday 27th October
  • Margaret's Hill - Monday 30th October and Tuesday 31st October
  • Gay's Hill - Wednesday 1st and 2nd November
  • Chapel Row - Friday 27th to Sunday 29th October,  works will re-commence Saturday 4th November to Sunday 5th November

(For full details please view the resurfacing works schedule)

Notices for road users:

It should be noted that any dates and times referred to above or advertised subsequently may be subject to change due to circumstances beyond the Council’s control.

Information boards detailing the works will be displayed at each location. In addition, advisory letters will be sent to shops, businesses and properties in the vicinity of the works. Highways Works notices will be displayed on street furniture which will be updated should changes be necessary to dates or times of the works.

In each case every effort will be made to minimise noise and nuisance. Bath & North East Somerset Council apologises for any inconvenience caused. We would like to remind drivers not to park their cars where they may cause delay to the road works.
