Rural Resurfacing 2006/07

Start: Saturday 7th October 2006

Duration: 4 weeks
(See - resurfacing works schedule)

Reason: To ensure the carriageway remains safe and serviceable

Benefits: Improved road condition giving a reduction in noise, a better ride for vehicles and an improved appearance

Nature of works: Works will include carriageway reconstruction and resurfacing, and the renewal of road markings where necessary. Several temporary road closures will be necessary to complete the work in the minimum of time.

Traffic Disruption: Taking into account the requirements of road users, retailers and residents, and to ensure that delay and disruption are minimised, it is anticipated that the works will be carried out during the times indicated in the resurfacing works schedule.

Every effort will be made to minimise the noise and disturbance for local residents and the Council’s contractor will be encouraged to complete the contract at the earliest possible date.

Notices for road users: The usual Advance Works Notice Boards will be erected between one to two weeks prior to the commencement of the works to each site. Information Boards will be in place during the period of works. Updated information will be attached to street furniture, especially if postponements are necessary because of inclement weather etc.
