Advisory Disabled Persons Parking Bays

Introduction

We receive many requests for Disabled Persons Parking Bays and in order to ensure that each one is assessed in a uniform way an application form has been prepared.

Applicants must have a severe mobility problem, be a car owner/driver, or live with a car owner/driver, be an orange or blue badge holder and have no other alternative place to park the vehicle. For applicants under 65 years of age, they must also be in receipt of a mobility allowance.

It is not always possible to provide bays because the proposed location could be situated on junctions, bends or where there is restricted width of carriageway as this would compromise road safety. Other locations where it is not possible to provide a bay are where there are existing waiting restrictions or residents parking zones.

Applying for an Advisory Disabled Persons Parking Bay

If you are registered disabled, hold a disabled badge and require a disabled persons parking bay, please print a copy of  the Disabled Bay Application Form in the column to the left (under Related Documents), fill it in and send it to the address at the top of the form.

Or, alternatively, you can phone 01225-394041and ask for an application form to be sent to you.

If you need to apply for a blue badge then please view our blue badge page for details of how to do this.

Once the completed application form has been received, a decision will be made and you will be notified by post whether your application has been granted or refused.

If granted, the works are carried out the first week of every month, and your disabled parking bay will be painted at the first available opportunity.
