together. This is a great way for friends to learn with each
other. It's helpful if teens are of the same cycling
ability. For more information contact Life Cycle UK (details

Training During Secondary Education
We have recently completed two successful pilots at secondary
schools in Bath and North East Somerset. If you would like to
receive training at school please ask your school to contact
us. It works best when there is a nominated person working at
the school who can promote and support the training.
Find that person and ask them to get in touch!
Training During Primary Education
Since September 2006 all cycle training provided by Bath &
North East Somerset is of the National Standard. The old
scheme Right Track has been phased out as was Cycling
Proficiency. We are making some positive changes
including smaller groups, more cycling and better feedback to
the cyclist and their family. We are working in lots of
primary schools. We can currently provide a cycling course at
your school for pupils in Years 5 and 6 (ages 9 and 10). If
you would like a cycling course at your school please ask your
school to get in touch.
Becoming a Cycling Instructor
Cycling Saturdays
The perfect solution for bored kids and stressed parents!
Life Cycle UK are running cycle training courses in Keynsham on
Saturdays throughout the year. Courses are aimed at 8 - 11
year olds and aimed at achieving Level 2 of the National
Standard. The aim of Level 2 is to make a trip independently
on quiet roads.
Training begins off-road, away from traffic, but then moves onto
local roads. Children learn how to control their bikes, how
to anticipate other road users’ behaviour, and how to carry out
manoeuvres with skill and confidence. Life Cycle UK work
with small groups so everyone gets lots of attention.
At the end of the course the children get certificates and Cycle
UK provide feedback to parents on each child’s progress.
Please see http://www.lifecycleuk.org.uk/cycling_saturdays.php
for further info.
Holiday Courses
National Standard Level 2 holiday courses are now available
from Life Cycle UK. These courses are tailor made to suit
you. Life Cycle UK will organise an instructor for
you on dates that are convenient. You will need to have 5
cyclists of similar ability. For further information and costs
please contact Life Cycle UK on 0117 929 0440.
