Carriageway resurfacing works underway
Within Bath, resurfacing works have taken place at Forefield
Rise, Widcombe; B3111 Oldfield Road, Oldfield, and Claremont Road,
Lambridge.
Other sites which will have been resurfaced are the B3110
Midford Road through Midford village; Church Lane, Chew Stoke;
B3116 Wellsway, Burnett; B3115 Hook Hill, Timsbury; Knobsbury Lane
and its junction with Frome Road at Writhlington; Rosemary Lane,
Freshford, and a section of Hinton Hill, Hinton Charterhouse.
The owners of all properties adjacent to the 10 sites were
notified of the works by letter prior to work commencing. In
addition, bus companies, emergency services and local businesses,
were all consulted to ensure that the planned site-working times
minimised disruption.
B3110 Midford Road
The road works along
the B3110 in Midford were undertaken during 5 consecutive nights
under temporary closures of the B3110. Due to the strategic
importance of this route through Midford village where narrow road
widths exist it was necessary to sign an extensive traffic
diversion along alternative main routes being the B3110 to Norton
St. Philip, A366 and A362 to Radstock, and A367 to Bath; and vice
versa.
Taking into account the amount of traffic that
normally passes through Midford village a temporary traffic
diversion via more local roads would not have been appropriate.Part
of the traffic diversionary
route was along the A3062 Frome Road in Bath which necessitated the
temporary removal of on street parking to accommodate
un-interrupted two-way traffic flow. The road works were planned
for the school half-term week as to minimise disruption and
inconvenience to the 3 schools situated in
Frome Road.
