Obstruction to Driveways & Garages
The Traffic Management Act 2004 increases the number of
contraventions allowable for local authorities to enforce.
The council’s Civic Enforcement Officers formally parking
attendants) are now empowered to issue penalty charge notices to
drivers who obstruct dropped kerb crossings, whether they be for
pedestrians or vehicles.
However, Bath & North East Somerset have made the decision not
to enforce this contravention in locations where there aren’t any
restrictions on site. This decision has been taken due to the
absence of clear quidance as to whether signs and/or lines should
be present to compliment enforcement.
Once this quidance is received, then it is proposed to publicise
our intentions. To enforce this contravention in the interim if you
should be victim to obstruction, please contact your local
community police officer.
