New cycle website to get your wheels turning
A joint authority cycling website is currently being written for
the four authorities, Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, North
Somerset and South Gloucestershire.
The reasons for this are:
- People often cycle across boundaries either for work or leisure
and having the information all in one place reduces the time spent
searching the internet
- Those interested in cycling as a leisure activity would be
interested in off-road routes which often cross boundaries e.g
Bristol to Bath railway path
- One place to promote all the Bike Week events for the region
which should increase awareness of events
- News and events for the whole region
- Links to other joint websites like the West of England
Partnership or Jam Busting June rather than providing four separate
hyperlinks.
- The website is not intended to replace the existing authority
websites but to complement them.
- Locations for possible interactive mapping
- Basic information for all four authorities would be available
and those requiring further information would be directed to the
appropriate authority website. A ‘one stop shop’ of everything we
do for cycling in the West of England.
- One place to locate information which applies jointly e.g cycle
parking standards.
