Recent Changes to Bus Services
In response to requests from local councillors, First are
running a later bus via Purlewent Drive in Weston on service 20A.
This area has a limited off-peak bus service on Mondays to Fridays
and, previously, the last bus back from Bath City Centre was at
1430 but since 30th June has changed to 1530.
Operation of Service 228 (Colerne to Bath) passed from First to
Faresaver Buses on 30th June, following First’s decision to
withdraw its commercial service on the route. Although Wiltshire
County Council and Bath & North East Somerset Council are now
providing financial support for Faresaver to continue the
service.
In Peasedown St John, Bath & North East Somerset Council has
ensured the continuation of a bus link from the Orchard Way area to
Bath following First’s decision to withdraw Service 175. This bus
ran twice a day in each direction on Mondays to Fridays. At the
Council’s request, First agreed to divert one peak-hour bus in each
direction and another service (184) via Orchard Way to ensure that
a service continues for commuters. Also, the Council arranged for a
shoppers’ bus from Orchard Way to Bath to be provided by Faresaver
Buses (Service 775) with financial support.
A new weekly bus link from Freshford to Bradford-on-Avon started
on 1st July to meet requests from residents. Service 95 runs on
Tuesday lunchtimes, giving one and a half hours shopping time in
Bradford-on Avon. It is operated by Bodmans Coaches under contract
to Wiltshire County Council.
