A36 Limpley Stoke Slope Stabilisation and Monkton Combe
Retaining Wall
From the 31st March 2008, for 12 weeks, the Highways Agency will
be carrying out major slope stabilisation, retaining wall
stabilisation, partial carriageway reconstruction and footway
resurfacing scheme, on the A36 south of Bath.
The slope to the west of the A36 at Limpley Stoke is beginning
to fail and has resulted in the safety barrier foundations becoming
unsafe. Similarly the stone retaining wall, between the canal arch
and the railway arch, at Monkton Combe is showing signs of
failure.
Over a period of time, rain water has worn away at the granular
material behind the wall, which now needs repairing.
Diversion routes will be clearly signed and in
operation for the duration of the scheme.
