Flexible Service

What is the Flexible Service?

• The flexible service is available from 9am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday and is available as part of the Odd Down - Royal United Hospital service (Service 42).  When an advance booking is made, the bus will divert at your request and pick you up at the bus stop of your choice within the Twerton/Southdown flexible zone. To find out if you live within this zone please view the flexible route map or contact our public transport team via the contact details given on this page.

Will it affect the timetable of the normal RUH service?

• No. The service 42 Park & Ride service from the Odd Down Park & Ride site will operate from 6.40am to 7pm Monday to Fridays as scheduled, and will call at all the regular advertised stops.

How Do I Book?

• Phone us on 01225 394285, 10am to 2pm Monday to Friday.
• Our telephone operator will help you chose the most convenient bus stop for your journey and advise you of the time the bus will pick you up.

What Are the Booking Conditions?

• Book in advance - Bookings cannot be made on the day of travel, so a booking must be made by at least the working day before your trip.
• Book early -   Bookings will be processed on a strictly first-come first-served basis. We cannot guarantee that we will be able to provide the bus at your desired time of travel, but if this is the case, we will endeavour to offer an alternative time of travel. 
• But, not  too early - We are unable to accept bookings that are more than a month in advance of the date of travel.

Can I Book a Return Journey?

• Yes. With one phone call you can book both outward and return legs of your journey to the RUH.

What Fare is Charged for the Flexible Service?

• The flexible route service operates at the standard RUH Park & Ride price - £2.50 return.
• It also operates on a flat fare basis - the ticket price is the same whichever bus stop you use the service from.
