Street Parking - Pavements
Parking on the pavement (or grass verge) is potentially
dangerous to pedestrians, causes damage and is also
illegal.
In the few locations where footway parking is allowed, it is
clearly indicated by signs and road markings.

Pavements are constructed and provided for pedestrian use, not
vehicles such as cars and motor bikes.
Illegally parked vehilces cost the Council thousands of pounds a
year in damage to paving slabs and grass verges, and cause
potentially dangerous/serious problems for blind, disabled and
older people.

By parking a vehicle on the pavement the driver is causing an
obstruction to pedestrians. In circumstances where the pedestrian
cannot use the pavement because the obstruction is too great they
may be forced to cross onto the highway and oncoming traffic, thus
put themselves in danger. Simularly damage to pavement slabs can
cause trip hazards for pedestrians.
