Parking in Bath & North East Somerset Council is managed by
Parking Services and has an annual budget of £7.5 million. Of
this approx. £5 million relates to car parks and £2.5 million to on
street parking. Income from parking is mandated to form part of the
general budget for Transport & Highways and aside from
improvements in parking itself is used to facilitate this.
Parking Services
Parking Services look after the
operational aspects of parking on a day to day basis. This involves
dealing with customer enquiries, issuing of permits,
blue badges and processing of penalty charge
notices.
Objectives and Commitments
Bath & North East Somerset Council has a reputation for
providing high-quality services and we are constantly looking for
new ways to improve these for everyone, including the benefit of
our users and for people who do not directly use our services, such
as pedestrians, children and those travelling by bus.

Our Activities
This Council deal's with the following parking activities:
Car Parks Care and Maintenance
- Day to day management of car
parks and park and
ride sites.
- Improving access to car parks via improvements to signage.
- Maintaining and improving the Councils stock of car
parks.
Controlled Parking Zones (CPZ’s)
- Designing and putting Controlled
Parking Zones in place, such as installing pay-and-display
machines, putting up signs and painting lines.
- Letting local residents and businesses know about Controlled
Parking Zones.
- Policing of Controlled Parking Zones.
- We review parking-related matters on the public highway, such
as Controlled Parking Zones
Customer Services and Consultation
- Administering of
blue badges.
- Customer enquiries from inside and outside Bath & North
East Somerset.
- Issuing of residents and contractors permits
and
season tickets.
- Parking policies and consulting local residents and
businesses.
Penalty Charge Notices
We operate under the Traffic Management Act 2004 and
Traffic Regulation Orders.
Our Standards
We have a range of standards including a
Charter which we follow to make sure we provide a
consistent service whichever department or activity you are dealing
with. We monitor and report our performance standards to make sure
we always provide a high-quality service. The parking service is
both IIP and Charter Mark Accredited.
