Council invests in families

COMMUNITY PLAY SCHEME BUS

Bath & North East Somerset Council will be supporting a range of activities for children, young people and families during the Easter holidays. These include the Play Bus and a number of holiday play schemes run by the voluntary sector.

The Council's Cabinet Member for Children's Services Cllr Chris Watt said: "Bath & North East Somerset Council is committed to improving the life chances of all our children and young people. These play schemes which run across the area provide a great opportunity for children to play in their own communities and are welcomed by many families."

Wansdyke Play Association holds activities for children aged from 5 to 13. The following free sessions involve sports and games, arts and crafts, drama and music, circus skills and den building, and will run from 10am - 12pm and 1pm - 3pm. An adult needs needs to sign a consent form.

They run as follows:

Monday 6 April: Westhill Garden Sports Club, Westfield Tuesday 7 April: Beacon Hall, Peasedown St. John Wednesday 8 April: Conygre Hall, Timsbury Thursday 9 April: St Mary's school, Writhlington

Easter play schemes run by Bath Area Play Project and supported by the Council run from 6 - 17 April, from 10am - 3pm each day. Aimed at children aged 5 - 12 years (they must be in Year 1) they include games, arts and crafts, cooking, sports and play, with qualified and experienced play workers. To register, arrive on the first day and give details to the Senior Playworker.

The Community Play Bus runs its free April Playscheme for 5-13 year olds. This will be at Paulton Village Hall on Monday 6 April, Haydon Que Club on Tuesday 7 April, The Rec in Clandown on Wednesday 8 April and Camerton Recreation Hall on Thursday 9 April.

Sessions run from 10.30am-12.30 and 1.30-3.30pm. Registration takes place from 10.15am. For more information call 01761 419557.

Percy Community Centre runs children's activities in and around Kingsmead.  These include holiday playschemes and workshops for children aged 5-13.

Special visits from graffiti artist, breakdance workshop, football, skills, Choc-O-Lot and Master Chef Challenge will feature amongst wide range of other activities and games.
