Bath School Cook, Mandy Jones, was served up a treat when she
won a visit to London’s prestigious The Dorchester hotel.
Leaving her school kitchen at Oldfield Park Infants’ behind for
the afternoon, she experienced a special cooking masterclass before
enjoying afternoon tea in the award winning hotel, last week.
The event, attended by eight school cooks from across
England was organised by the School Food Trust in recognition for
all their hard work and determination to make great improvements to
their school meal service.
Earlier in the year the school won the Million Meals campaigns
school of the month award for innovative ways to increase uptake of
school meals and the day was in recognition of Mandy’s contribution
to this success.
Mandy Jones said: ‘’I really enjoyed the day, it was a fantastic
chance to meet the Chefs and watch how they cook and present some
of their dishes. I’ve learnt lots of useful presentation tips to
take back to my school kitchen which I know our children will
love.’’
Speaking at the event, Jeanette Orrey, Celebrity Chef and Board
Member of the School Food Trust said: ‘’Mandy and the other school
cooks have done an amazing job in transforming school food.
The children at Oldfield Park Infants School are lucky to have such
a talented and committed school cook’’
