Residents and businesses in the Weston area of Bath are being
invited along to an event where they can receive advice and
information about local flooding issues.
Organised by Bath & North East Somerset Council, and
supported by the Environment Agency, the flood awareness clinic
will take place on Wednesday 15 October at Centre 69 on Pen Hill
Road, between 1pm and 7pm.
The Environment Agency will provide up-to-date flood mapping
information as well as advice on flood defence, surface water
mapping and other developments, including how resicents can receive
flood warnings direct to their homes / mobile phones.
Bath & North East Somerset Council’s Transport and Planning
Policy Group will talk about ongoing work to try to prevent
flooding and minimise its impact in the Weston area. And the
Council’s Emergency Management Unit will be on hand to discuss some
of the flood defence products available for protecting
property.
Bath & North East Somerset Council’s Cabinet Member for
Resources, Cllr Malcolm Hanney said: "The Council is committed to
providing flood prevention advice. Changes in weather patterns over
recent years have led to an increase in extreme weather events such
as those experienced in Bath in January this year, when Weston was
particularly affected. This event in follows on from a
number of Flood Awareness Days held in Bath in
March."
