The Care Network carers centre and Bath & North East
Somerset Council have organised a free information event for family
carers of young people and adults with learning difficulties.
“A Life Less Extra-Ordinary!” will take place at the Ammerdown
Conference Centre, (near Radstock) on Thursday, 27 March from 10am
- 2pm.
The aim of the event is to give family carers the information
they need about changes in local services for people with learning
difficulties, in line with current government initiatives and to
consult on their views.
It is the first time an event of this kind specifically designed
for carers has been held in Bath and North East Somerset.
There will be live entertainment from the theatre company,
‘Moveable Feast’ - people with learning difficulties showing,
through performance drama, that people of all abilities can work
together and live in harmony. Some local family carers will tell
their personal stories and there will be an Information Fair with
stands, providing opportunity for questions and discussion with
health & social care professionals.
It will be an opportunity for family carers in the local
community to come together, meet people in similar situations to
themselves, share experiences and gain information and advice. Most
importantly, it will help to increase awareness in Bath and
North East Somerset of the support and services available locally
and family carers' right to have a say in the design and delivery
of local services.
Transport to Ammerdown will be organised from central pick-up
points in Keynsham and Bath if required. For more information about
the event and booking a place please contact the Care Network
Carers Centre 01761 431388 or email: carerssupport@thecarenetwork.co.uk.
