This Saturday, 15 March, Bath and North East Somerset residents
will take priority with a special booking day enabling them to buy
tickets for this year’s Bath International Music Festival ahead of
the general public.
2008 is the 60th anniversary of the internationally
acclaimed Festival and this year’s programme boasts big names
across musical genres.
Bath Festivals Box Office, at 2 Church Street, Abbey Green, Bath
BA1 1NL, will be open from 9.30am until 5.30pm and extra staff will
be on hand to welcome Bath and North East Somerset residents and
take their personal bookings. All that is required is proof of
address - eg a utility bill or driving licence. Free
brochures giving details of all the 70+ events taking place during

In celebration of the Festival’s 60th Birthday, this year’s
programme is packed with vibrant, diverse, and powerful music from
around the world. Highlights include: one of the world’s greatest
living conductors, Sir Colin Davis, leading the London Symphony
Orchestra; Tunisian singer and oud player Dhafer Youssef;
performances in the Assembly Rooms by cellist Natalie Clein and
young Russian pianist Yevgeny Sudbin; Armonico Consort’s new
production of Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro at The Pavilion; The
first family of English folk music - Waterson:Carthy; the great
slide guitarist Bob Brozman; and jazz from the McCoy Tyner Trio,
with special guest Joe Lovano; plus tributes to the late, great
Thelonious Monk.
The Bath and North East Somerset priority residents booking day
on Saturday 15 March gives local people a chance to get ahead of
the queues and ensure that they get the best tickets for the
concerts they really want to attend in what promises to be a
vintage year for the City’s much-loved Music Festival.
