The Community Safety and Drugs Partnership in Bath and North
East Somerset are creating a new unit to combat Anti-Social
Behaviour in the district.
Although based at Bath Police Station, the four man unit will
serve all of Bath and North East Somerset to strengthen the
existing resources dedicated to addressing anti-social behaviour
and intervene in emerging hotspots. Bath and North East Somerset
Council is advertising the posts on behalf of the Partnership,
which includes the Police, local NHS trust, Avon Fire and Rescue,
Probation service, and Registered Social Landlords.
Councillor Francine Haeberling, Leader of Bath and North East
Somerset Council, commented: "Bath & North East Somerset
Council is pleased to be supporting this new initiative to combat
anti-social behaviour throughout the district alongside our
partners. Building communities where people feel safe and secure is
one of the eight priorities contained in our vision for the
district. Once appointed, this new unit will help the Community
Safety and Drugs Partnership make the area an even better place to
live, work and visit. It will be a significant part of reducing
public perception about anti-social behaviour complementing other
initiatives, such as the Council’s CCTV network."
The unit will be responsible for implementing policies,
procedures and protocols to reduce anti-social behaviour and
provide specialist advice to partner agencies, acting as a the
single point of contact for the Community Safety and Drugs
Partnership in dealing with Anti-Social Behaviour. It will also be
responsible for the early identification of hotspots and
individuals, working up cases of anti-social behaviour with
appropriate agencies to design and develop suitable intervention
programmes.
