Bestselling historians Saul David and Adrian Tinniswood will be
talking about their latest books at Bath Library on 18 September at
7.30pm.
The event is part of Bath & North East Somerset Council’s
celebration of National Year of Reading, during which libraries
across the area have held a series of events for children and
adults.
‘Victoria’s Wars’ by Saul David is a retelling of military
history during the first part of Queen Victoria’s reign. ‘The
Verneys - A True Story of Love, War and Madness in
Seventeenth-century England’ by Adrian Tinniswood reveals, amongst
other things, what happened when, in 1608 the head of the
influential Verney family suddenly sold-up, walked out on his
teenage wife, moved to Morocco and turned to piracy!
Council Cabinet Member with responsibility for Libraries, Cllr
David Hawkins said: "I am delighted that our libraries are
presenting such a varied and interesting programme of events
throughout this the National Year of Reading. There are many other
events taking place in other libraries across the district as part
of the National Year of Reading. I hope that all of these events
will be enjoyed by people of all ages. One of the Council’s
priorities is to encourage everyone to achieve their potential, the
libraries are an important resource for local people and play a key
role in this priority."
Julia Ball, Bath & North East Somerset Council’s Reader
Development Officer, said: "This is a great opportunity to discover
more about the skill and art of writing history for 21st Century
readers and to take part in an evening of historical debate with
